Research Center on Procuratorial Work for Children of Beijing Normal University

Established in 2020, the Research Center on Prosecutorial Work for Children of Beijing Normal University stands as a non-affiliated scientific research entity at the institutional level. It holds the distinct honor of being the sole "Research Base on Prosecutorial Work for Children" among the 16 prosecutorial research bases designated by the Supreme People's Procuratorate. Nested within the provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms of Beijing Normal University, this center garners support and oversight. It concatenates the expertise of various disciplines related to minors, including law, psychology, education, social work, and public administration, all within the confines of Beijing Normal University. Furthermore, the center extends its reach by enlisting the expertise of renowned external specialists who have distinguished themselves in the fields of juvenile law and child protection, thereby enriching its research capabilities.

Since its establishment, the Research Center on Prosecutorial Work for Children of Beijing Normal University has been diligently organizing an array of high-caliber academic initiatives. These efforts are aimed at elevating the comprehensive protection of minors, refining the legal framework pertaining to minors, bolstering the effect of legal education for minors, and fostering the academic discipline of "juvenile law." Among its notable activities, the center has been tasked with drafting expert proposals for the revision of the "Minor Protection Law" and the "Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency Law," commissions undertaken on behalf of the Social Construction Committee of the National People's Congress. Additionally, the center has undertaken the "Evaluation of the Implementation of the Minors Chapter in the Criminal Procedure Law," a project commissioned by the Supreme People's Procuratorate. The center has also been instrumental in organizing and hosting thematic seminars on critical issues such as "Intervention and Correction System for Minors' Bad Behavior and Serious Misconduct," "Reform of the Minors' Guardianship System," and "Protecting Minors in Online Social Networks: International Perspectives and Chinese Legislative Approaches."

The goal of this research center is to build a research institution with a leading position and guiding role in China, focusing on the research of juvenile justice and legal protection of minors and covering research on issues related to minors, with interdisciplinary, comprehensive and international characteristics, and a high-end think tank with national influence in the field of minors.
